Q: Why choose us?
A: We have specialized internal tours around the ancient land of Egypt since 1995. During our years in the tourism industry we have built an excellent name and reputation in Egypt and beyond. Q: Where do you travel to?
A: My Way To Egypt travels wide and far and no stone is left turned up. To mention a few sites, areas and tours we do; Abu Simbel, Alexandria, Ancient Egypt, Aswan, Nile Cruises, Felucca Cruises, and Pyramids.
Q: Who we cater for?
A: Young or old we have a package to meet your wants, needs and desires. There are no age restrictions, children, teenagers, young adults, middle aged and the elderly. From couples, families, groups to single people, all are welcome and will enjoy a fabulous experience.
Q: What’s the difference between 5* and a deluxe hotel/cruise 5*?
A: The star ratings increase as the facilities and overall standard of the accommodation increases to excellence. A 5* deluxe is easily understood as 6*.
Q: What’s the difference between Bed & Breakfast, Half Board, Full Board and All Inclusive?
A: Bed and Breakfast is your room and only breakfast supplied No drinks. Half board is your room breakfast and dinner supplied, No drinks. Full Board is your room and all meals supplied, No drinks. All Inclusive in your room, all meals and drinks included.
Q: I have some expensive items which I do not wish to leave in my room/cabin. What should I do?
A: All hotels and cruises have safety deposit boxes; these will be located in your hotel room or in your cabin. Your valuables can be stored in here and you should keep your key safe. For instructions please contact reception.
Q: What clothes should I wear during the cruise?
A: You may wear what you wish whilst on board, swimwear is NOT acceptable and you will be asked to dress for dinner. Dress casual and smart.
Q: What clothes should I wear whilst walking around town?
A: When walking around the towns, men can wear shorts and t-shirts; women are advised to longer shorts and t-shirts etc. Dress as you would for a hot summer day.
Q: What’s the voltage used in Egypt?
A: Egypt has a voltage supply of 220
Q: What plugs are used?
A: You will need plugs that have 2 rounded pins. This is commonly available throughout Europe. Adapters will be needed for plugs from the UK. Plugs can be bought from Airports, supermarkets and Duty Free shops.
Q: What’s the legal age limit to consume alcohol?
A: The legal age to consume alcohol is 21 years old
Q: Where is alcohol available?
A: Alcohol is not available from local stores or some hotels. However many hotels that we use, do resource alcohol. During certain Islamic months, alcohol is not available and you be asked to provide your passport on purchasing.
Q: How and where can I obtain my Tourist Visa from?
A: You may need to apply to your local Egyptian Embassy or Consulate General for a pre-entry visa if you are from North America, Western Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, Argentina, Hong Kong, Japan, Macau, Malaysia, or Singapore.
You may also be able to obtain your tourist visa upon arrival in Egypt.
Q: How do I obtain my Touristic Visa in a different country to that of my Passport?
A: If you hold a residence permit in the country you live in you can apply to the Egyptian Embassy/Consulate General in that country. Otherwise apply to the country that issued your passport.
Q: How do I travel to Aswan from Hurghada?
A: Many travel bookings do mention the road and bus services between the two cities, but this is not advised for tourists, as often you will be refused admittance.
The advised route is to get the bus to Luxor and then from there the train to Aswan.
Q: How do I travel to Abu Simbel?
A: The easiest and most convenient route to Abu Simbel is to travel by plane, which is a 4 hour round trip.
Or the option of taking the bus, this is controlled by two police convoys. That departs from Aswan at 0400 and at 1130; this method is much longer, which can take 9 hours for a round trip.
Q: Can I take photographs inside the tombs?
A: No. It is strictly forbidden taking pictures inside the tombs, including the Pyramids and Abu Simbel. It is banned from the Valley of the Kings. Precaution has been to be taken to preserve the Ancient works, as excessive flash damages the paintwork; hence all cameras will be left at the x-ray point (which is located at the second entrance).
*UPDATE - You are able to purchase a 50le (local currency) to take pictures in and around certain areas of the Egyptian Museum.
Q: Where is the main bus depot in Cairo?
A: The main bus depot is called Cairo Gateway; El Torgoman bus station which is situated just out of the city center. You may get there via taxi.
Q: Where is the Hurghada bus station?
A: The bus station is located in Hurghada city center.
Q: Where is the Sharm El-Sheikh bus station?
A: the bus station is located on the outskirts of the center on Freedom Road. You will need a taxi or your hotel can provide a shuttle bus, please confirm with the reception of your hotel.

Q: Can my Tourist Visa be extended to more than one month?
A: A tourist visa can be extended if you require. You will need to apply at Mogamma Office which is located in Tahrir Square or if you are in Alexandria, Luxor and or Sharm El-Sheikh to the equivalent offices.
Q: Is it safe to drink the water in Egypt?
A: Yes it is safe. But NOT advised. Egyptian water has a high chlorine level which can upset the microbes in your stomach, causing diarrhoea. It is safe to drink bottled water ensuring that the seal is intact.
Q: Is it safe to brush my teeth with tap water?
A: Egyptian water is highly chlorinated not poisonous. It is perfectly safe to brush your teeth with tap water. You often will swallow small amounts of water whilst swimming or showering which causes no problem.
Q: What should I wear for entering a Mosque (Male)?
A: Protocol does ask for men to wear long trousers as opposed to shorts. Egyptians are used to shorts being worn.
Q: What should I wear for entering a Mosque (Female)?
A: Protocol does ask for women to cover bare skin as much as possible, it is advised to wear long trousers or skirts and covering of the shoulders. This can be done with a scarf.
Q: Can I use my credit/debit card?
A: Yes. Most places of trade, hotels, cruises, restaurants and shopping outlets do accept this method of payment. You are advised to carry cash when shopping in the street markets (Souks).
Q: Can I purchase Alcohol in Egypt?
A: Alcohol is available in Egypt, in higher star Hotels, restaurants, cafes, pubs and beer gardens. You will also find Off Licences. Please Note: it is illegal to drink on the streets of Egypt so do not walk with a can of your favourite larger.
Q: Can I go inside the Great Pyramid of Khufu (Cheops)?
A: Yes. It is restricted to 300 people per day; 150 people are allowed in at 0800 and another 150 people at 1500. Tickets are sold on a first come first served basis; it is advised to arrange this as soon as possible. Tickets can be bought from the main entrance.
Q: Can I go inside the Pyramids of Khafre (Chephren) and or Menkaure (Mycerinus)?
A: This is no restrictions of visits per day, however only one is open at a time. This is to allow it to breathe, dispersing the high levels of Carbon Dioxide levels.
